PHOTO PRINTS: TURKEY

Finally! It was such an honour to be invited by Turkey Tourism and Turkish Airlines to explore the country's southeastern side.

There were so many beautiful places that it was a tough task to just narrow down this collection to 5 postcards. As this is a special issue, I will be selling these postcards only as a full collection of 5 for rm55. But don't worry! If you're interested in any other photos from this trip, they're available as photographs, canvas prints, and posters too. Just let me know via e-mail on acacia.diana@outlook.com - the details are on the form here Turkey Order Form

TURKEY - SPECIAL EDITION

This order is now closed.

Of all the countries I've visited, Turkey has managed to bring me back to it three times now. There's something incredibly magical about the city. Maybe because it's the centre of so many cultural and historical moments. It's the medley of east meets west, Europe meets Asia, the presence of Christianity and Islam, that you are carried away in all these influences into such a unique experience. Even in this modern age there's still a sense of mysticism and adventure here. With this collection I'm hoping to bring you to the gems on the southeastern side - Gobekli Tepe, Sanliurfa, Nemrut, Hasankeyf, and of course, the incredible Istanbul.

Turk 01 - Gobekli Tepe

Gobekli Tepe is an archaeological site, believed to be of social or ritual nature, dating to 10th-8th century BCE. Excavations on this UNESCO World Heritage Site have bene going on since 1995. This whole area is older than the Great Pyramids of Giza, Egypt, and Stonehenge, England. We had to take a special bus to get to the site. It's still an active excavation area and to see these huge monuments up close was a memory to remember.

Turk 02 - Hasankeyf

The ancient city of Hasankeyf is built around the Tigris River, and one of the oldest settlements in the world, spanning about 10,000 years. It has thousands of man made caves on its limestone cliffs and estimated 300 medieval monuments. On our stop here we were across the city and had some drink to enjoy the view, but there are tours that take you around some of the sites too.

Turk 03 - Sanliurfa

The Sanliurfa Museum, located in the southeastern region of the country, is one of the biggest museums in Turkey. Located right next to the Mosaic Museum, it has archaeological artifacts from the surrounding area including Gobekli Tepe and Harran. Seen here is the corridor to the entrance of the museum, which was designed so beautifully!

Turk 04 - Istanbul

Formerly known as Constantinople, Istanbul is Turkey's most populated city. Named one of Europe's Capital of Culture, this partially listed UNESCO World Heritage site is a medley of east meets west, and is one of the must-visits of the country. I've visited here three times and the dynamics and magics of this city will never not amaze me.  MUST. VISIT.

Turk 05 - Nemrut

View from Nemrut Mountain, located north of Kahta, near Adiyaman, where in 62 BCE, King Antiochus I Theos of Commagene built a tomb/sanctuary with huge statues of himself, two lions, two eagles and various Greek, Armenian and Persian gods. The statues are gigantic, and well photographed (I wrote about the site here), so I thought I'd share a view of the journey through the valleys instead.
